The play "Our Town" begins on a very normal day in the life of the townspeople of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire in 1904. The first act, entitled The Daily Life, is introduced by the Stage Manager, who brilliantly narrates this heartbreaking story of childhood, love and mortality. We view the journey through the lens of Emily and George, who have known each other since birth and must navigate the trials of childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. Through their experiences and those of the many townspeople, we learn to appreciate the simple things that make us human and to appreciate every moment of life while we are living it. Thornton Wilder won the Pulitzer Prize for writing this timeless classic, which broke new theatrical ground when it was first produced in 1938 and the young actors at University City High School will take on the weight and experience of this beautiful production.
