You may be seeing new faces and vehicles from U City in your neighborhood.
The Planning and Development Department has launched a new code enforcement team. Rebranded as the “Code Compliance Team,” it represents a culture change for this section of the department that will result in more streamlined management of the property maintenance code. More importantly, the new approach is intended to encourage compliance versus punitive means to maintain and improve housing and property conditions throughout the City.
It also reinstates an approach to code compliance used in the 1990s. Code compliance officers and inspectors will be assigned to specific areas of the City to patrol as shown on the map below.

The department and the new Code Compliance Team will be working with area nonprofit agencies, such as SHED, to become a more integrated part of the University City community. New logos and branding will be displayed on the fleet of electric Nissan Leafs used for work by the Code Compliance Team.
