Bi-State Development to present secure platform plan to City Council

On Mon., Mar. 13, Bi-State Development will give a presentation to the City Council on the Metrolink, their security assessment of it and their $52M secure platform plan.

They will discuss their security strategies, staffing procedures and more.

The secure platform plan will be funded from the following sources: $12 million from a bond refinancing process dedicated to security; $12 million from Illinois Federal Stimulus; $17.25 million from BSD capital and the American Rescue Plan Act; and $10.75 million from private sector funding.

In addition to a secure gate system, Metro is doubling the number of cameras on buses, trains and platforms that will transmit live feeds to the Real-Time Crime Camera Center.

The presentation will also highlight their pilot program with Metro to provide crisis intervention and behavioral health support at various transit centers throughout the region.

Members of the public can attend the meeting at University City City Hall located at 6801 Delmar Blvd., on the 5th floor. The meeting will also be streamed live here on YouTube. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
