City of University City receives award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

GFOA Award 2021

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the City of University City the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2021.

“I am proud to share the news of this prestigious award our Finance Department achieved in producing our annual report. The department, led by Keith Cole, does a tremendous job in maintaining and accurately reporting our finances. Keith and his team’s attention to detail does not go unnoticed,” said City Manager Gregory Rose.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles. Cities who received this award are recognized for their transparency and full disclosure of information in their annual comprehensive financial reports.
