UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Today, City Manager Gregory Rose announced that the City of University City has hired Darin Girdler to serve as the City’s newest Public Works Director beginning Jan. 30.
“I'm pleased to share the news of Darin Girdler joining our team at University City. He brings an extensive range of experience working in public works departments and municipal governments. He will be a great asset to oversee the public works department and ensuring our residents are continuing to receive excellent services from our City,” said City Manager Gregory Rose.
As Director of Public Works, Girdler will oversee a broad range of services including engineering, sanitation, storm water management, facilities and fleet maintenance. He will serve as supervisor to a staff of 26 employees.

Girdler joins University City with more than 30 years of experience in municipal management, community relations, executive leadership, legislative processes and labor relations. He most recently served as Interim Village Administrator of the Village of Maple Park, Ill.
Girdler holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Illinois State University.
