The University City Summer Band welcomes you back for our 2023 Summer season of concerts.
Parking and access are easy. Seating is on the lawn. Bring a lawn chair or blanket as available bench seating is limited. Bring your children! Bring a picnic!
The University City Summer Band is a concert band with the thrilling sound of scores of woodwinds, brass and percussion playing together under the leadership of our new music director, Danny Lewis. The band’s repertoire includes marches, show tunes, jazz, original pieces for band, light classics, patriotic selections, popular music and transcriptions – we guarantee something for everyone from young children to senior citizens. Dine at one of the many restaurants along the U City Olive Blvd. area or Loop area and then join us for a relaxing concert in the park.

June 20 Student Night: Area high school band students are invited to come play with the band. (Registration information on the band’s website)
June 27 Featured guest artist: St. Boogie Brass Band, a New Orleans style brass band in concert with the U City Summer Band!
July 11 4th concert of the season!
July 18 Featured guest artist: Trumpeter Wayne Du Maine and a special Reunion of the 1983 University City High School Jazz Band At Intermission, the University City Parks Centennial Committee will award three top winners to school age kids who completed the University City Parks Scavenger Hunt (presented by the Recreation Division). In addition, the Fire & Ice Cream Truck will have limited free ice cream for attendees. Both the Scavenger Hunt and the Fire & Ice Cream Truck are sponsored by the Parks Centennial.
July 25 Last concert of the season! At Intermission, celebrate the centennial of the U City Parks. Mayor Terry Crow will honor the U City Parks and Recreation staff!
