Plastic Bags & Wrap Recycling Discontinued at the Recycling Drop-Off Center on Feb 7

Due to excessive contamination, plastic bags and wrap (plastic film) will no longer be accepted at the Recycling Drop-Off Center at 975 Pennsylvania.  High levels of food, liquid, trash, and other unacceptable items found in the plastic film container degrade the quality of the material rendering them unmarketable. This causes the materials that would otherwise be recycled to be landfilled.

University City would like to thank those who have used the container properly.  Unfortunately, due to misuse, this service must be discontinued.

Collection of these materials inside a retail location (participating grocery or big-box stores) during business hours results in higher quality materials with much less contamination.  Please continue to recycle your plastic film at your local retailer; Schnucks, Walmart, and Target have plastic film collection containers in their stores.  To find out other locations, visit www.plasticfilmrecycling.org.

Please do not deposit any materials on the ground, and please do not deposit any materials that are not acceptable in any of the containers at the recycling drop-off center.  This is considered illegal dumping and jeopardizes the future of the recycling drop-off program.
